Who Should take this course?
This OSHA 16 Hour HAZWOPER Online is for workers with 24 Hour HAZWOPER training who wish to upgrade to the 40 Hour HAZWOPER training level. This version of the course combines 8 hours of online training with 8 hours of classroom training.
We also offer a 16 Hour HAZWOPER Upgrade Online course that can be taken entirely online.
If students have taken the 24 Hour HAZWOPER from another training provider, appropriate documentation must be provided before a 40 Hour HAZWOPER certificate is issued.
The classroom portion consists of 8 hours of hands-on training in the use of equipment a HAZWOPER worker may use on the work site. However, additional, employer-provided training is required in the use of any site-specific equipment you may use.
The objectives for this course are to meet the Federal OSHA HAZWOPER training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3)(iv) for General Industry and 29 CFR 1926.65(e)(3)(iv) for Construction. This course is also intended to meet any HAZWOPER training requirements for EPA and State OSHA regulations.
Workers with 24 hours of training who are covered by paragraphs (e)(3)(ii) and (e)(3)(iii) of this section, and who become general site workers or who are required to wear respirators, shall have the additional 16 hours and two days of training necessary to total the training specified in paragraph (e)(3)(i) of the HAZWOPER Regulation.

This course has 3 exams based upon the course's first 3 modules. Students are required to complete the exam after completing all course sections. There is no final exam.
Each exam consists of 10 questions randomly selected from a large pool of questions. A 70% score or better is required to pass each exam.
If a student does not pass an exam the first time, they may retake the exam as many times as necessary in order to pass.
Workers must receive additional training, when required by Federal and State OSHA and EPA standards, on the specific hazards of their job.
Training providers should be used to ensure credibility and augment a company's training program. Therefore, in addition to the training provided by an outside party, a student should receive site-specific training that is supplied by their own company. This training should target the company's unique approach to hazard prevention, including the use of site-specific equipment, health and safety policies, and emergency procedures. As a rule, this company specific training should be well documented.
The bottom line in ALL SITUATIONS is that employers are required to ensure that their employees are adequately trained to do their job.

This requirement is meant to ensure that newly trained employees are not sent to a work site and left unsupervised but get supervised field experience for at least three days. It is not part of their training period; it is part of their job function period.
